POSITION: Launch Operator
COMPANY: Plymouth Yacht Club
LOCATION: Plymouth, Massachusetts
The launch operator is under the immediate supervision of the Waterfront Captain and the Club Manager. He/She must be at least 18 years of age (as required by U.S. Coast Guard for licensing). He/She must acquire, prior to hiring, a launch operator’s license to operate a launch carrying more than SEVEN persons. He/She must have first aid and AED training and strong swimming ability. He/She must submit to all drug/alcohol examinations as now required by Federal Regulations (46 CFR).
BASIC FUNCTIONS
- To shuttle launch service members and guests between their boats and shore
- To handle all visiting yachts
- To keep launches clean and in good working order
- To help minimize damage to property and personal injury of all boaters in the harbor
- To perform light maintenance tasks
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safe operations of launches
- Morning preparation and evening shutdown of launches
- Cleaning of launches
- Transporting members and guests to and from their boats
- Collecting fees from transient boats
- Keeping records of open moorings and return boats
- Selling ice and notifying supervisor of need to order more
- Assisting members with ice and bags
- Keeping accurate log on each launch
- Check for launch service membership
- Help with evening Colors
- Account for all cash transactions
APPEARANCE
- Uniform shirt with PYC logo provided
- Tan pants (Long or Short)
- Proper footwear (boat shoes or sneaker with non-skid soles)
- No black shoes
- Foul weather gear available as needed
