General Requirements
Chief Engineer
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Meet Requirements of OICEW
- 6 months sea-going plus 30 months training and education with completed TRB for III/1 sea-time
- Sea-Time of 36 months or 24 months with at least 12 months as a 2nd Engineer on a vessel of 3000 kW propulsion power or more
2nd Engineer
- Must be at least 19 years old
- Meet Requirements of OICEW
- 6 months sea-going plus 30 months training and education with completed TRB for III/1 sea-time
- Sea-Time of 12 months as Assistant Engineer or Engineer Officer on vessel of 3000kW propulsion power or more
Application Requirements
- Completed Dominica Application for Certificate of Competence and Physical Examination Report
- Submit copy of passport with application
- Submit Sea Service Letters or copies of discharge papers
- Include all copies of held licenses, Certificates of Competence, training certificates, completed assessments and training record book
Training Requirements
- Basic & Advanced Firefighting
- First Aid & CPR
- Leadership and Management Skills
- Medical Care Provider
- Medical Care Provider PIC
- Chief or 2nd Engineer 3000kW Course
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibility
- Personal Survival Techniques
- Proficiency in Survival Craft
- Ship Security Officer
- Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties
